Before and aftercare

Waxing

After your waxing treatment today it is important to remember to take extra care of the treated area, especially within the first 24 hours giving the skin a chance to settle and allowing it to return to normal.

BEFORE YOUR BIKINI WAX TREATMENT: Please ensure that you have showered prior to your appointment and that the hair is approximately 1cm in length all over. If the hair is longer, you should trim it at home beforehand. If the hair is too long or too short we may not be able to carry out the appointment and there may be a cancellation charge.

AFTERCARE

Avoid hot baths, heat treatments, and swimming for 24 hours.

Avoid sunbeds or fake tan for 48 hours.

Avoid using any make-up or perfumed products for 24 hours over the waxed areas.

Wash hands if it is necessary to touch the waxed area, however, please avoid touching/itching where possible for 24 hours.

If the waxed area is a little sore following the treatment, you can apply a soothing afterwax lotion or a cool compress. Do not use any creams that are not specific to after waxing.

Regular moisturising and exfoliation between waxing treatments help keep the skin hydrated and help minimise ingrowing hairs.

Male clients to avoid shaving 6-12 hours before and after.

No exercise directly after treatment.

Nails

Your gel Manicure should last ‘at least double the length of your normal manicure plus extra’, however, the more you look after your nails, the longer the gel will last.

Gel polish is not only gentle on the nails; it also protects them as they grow.

In order to achieve the most out of your fabulous Soak-Off gel Polish please follow the aftercare instructions below;

Treat your nails like jewels not tools, wherever you can use an alternative tool or substitute rather than using your nails.

Never peel or pick the gel polish off.

Avoid prolonged contact with water and chemicals as this can cause the gel to lift.

Always wear gloves when carrying out tasks which may damage the nails such as housework.

To keep the nail hydrated, apply a little Cuticle Oil to them daily. HOWEVER, do not apply any creams or oils to the hands on the day of your next appointment because this may leave a residue which can cause lifting of the gel polish.

Avoid applying heat, cold or pressure to the gels for at least an hour after they have been applied as this could damage them.

Do not use any products which contain acetone on your nails as this will soften the gel & you will lose the shine.

We recommend returning to the salon to have your gel polish removed as this minimises the chance of damage to the nail bed. Please note that we only remove gel polish applied by our salon. If you have gel polish applied at another salon, this will need to be removed prior to your nail appointment with us.

Lash Lift

In order to achieve the best results from you lash lift treatment please follow the pre and aftercare below.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

A patch test is required at last 48 hours prior to treatment.

To ensure you are comfortable having a chemical service around your eye area without experiencing any discomfort or clasutrophobia, please ensure you have experienced an eyelash tint at least once before having a lash lift.

Please arrive for your appointment with bare lashes (no eye make up) as removal can make the eyes more sensitive and can leave a small barrier on the lashes which could affect results.

Avoid waterprooft mascara 2-4 days prior to your treatment.

Remove any lash extensions at least 3 days to 1 week before your appointment.

Contact lenses should be removed prior to treatment.

Certain medication can affect the lifting process. Iron tablets can make the hair more resistant. Low blood sugar medication can make the lifted lashes drop more quickly.

Treatment includes a relaxing hand and foot massage.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Lashes should be kept dry for 24 hours after treatment.

Be gentle with your lashes; no rubbing.

Do not apply mascara for at least 24 hours. Avoid waterproof mascara completely as the removal may compromised the longetivity of the treatment effects.

No hot baths or heat treatments for 24 hours as the heat and steam may make the lashes drop.

Do not have any other facial treatments for at least 24 hours.

Please comb through the lashes every day using a dry mascara wand.

Occasionally some people find their eyes a little sensitive after treatment for a day or so. Sometimes it feels a little odd where you can feel the lashes touching the upper lid. This sensation does pass as you get used to your newly lifted lashes.

We recommend having 8 weeks inbetween your lash lift treatments.

Keratin Blowdry

Following your Keratin Blow Dry please observe the following

For 72 hours after application;

Don't wash or get your hair wet.

Don't tie hair up or tuck it behind your ear.

Please ensure you use the Elements products provided when washing your hair as these are sulphate free and will keep your Keratin Blow Dry looking great for longer.

Ear Piercing

Anyone under the age of 16 must have their parent or legal guardian present to sign the registration form. While there is no minimum age, the child must be old enough to verbally give their consent to the piercing and be able to follow the aftercare.

Before getting your child’s ears pierced, we advise checking their school’s policy of earrings being worn. The earrings must not be removed for 6 weeks so they may need to wear medical tape while they are at school for certain activities. While you can take them out after 6 weeks, we often advise to not leave them out for the whole school day. It is still a relatively new piercing and we have had cases for some people not being able to get them back in. We would advise that after the initial 6 weeks that your child to take them out just before the activity and to put them back in straight after.

We only pierce the earlobes and due to scar tissue, we may not be able to do a re-piercing, please check when making your appointment.

Minor pain/redness may occur immediately – this is normal. This will settle within 48hrs providing the correct aftercare is carried out. If undue pain/swelling occurs at any time, please seek medical advice.

AFTERCARE:

Wash hands thoroughly before touching the jewellery or ear.

Cleanse the front and back of the ear 2/3 times a day with the ear care solution provided at your appointment.

Whilst cleaning, rotate the jewellery in both directions (preventing wrapping hair around the jewellery. In-between cleansing, the ear should be kept dry).

Keep hairspray, soap, shampoo and other preparations away from the ear. After shampooing, make sure to rinse the ear with clear water and cleanse with the ear care solution as above.

Due to the nature of the ear piercing, exposing the newly pierced ears to certain environments such as swimming and participation in athletic events (exercising) may increase the likelihood of infection. The piercing should be cleansed with your ear care solution and then kept dry, especially after swimming, bathing and exercise.

Do not remove the earrings or handle them unnecessarily.

Do not push the butterfly along the post towards the ear. The butterfly must always be positioned at the tip of the post. Feel the position each time you clean the ear, it should feel smooth. It ensures the earring remains loose during the healing period. This is essential as tight earrings may lead to inflammation and increase the risk of embedding.

The above should be followed for a period of 6 weeks. After which time you can carefully remove the earrings should you wish to change them. It is advised that when wearing the earrings the next time, to change them to easy slip on/off butterflies. The earrings we use have piercing safety backs meaning they can be a little trickier to remove.

For the first 6 months only wear straight post earrings (not curved) continuously. It is also advised to minimize reactions to make sure the first 6 months following your piercing to only wear jewellery that is made from surgical steel or other hypo-allergenic material.
